Joe Perry has just rolled out a 10-city solo tour with his backing band featuring fellow Aerosmith bandmate Brad Whitford and Extreme frontman Gary Cherone. The mini-trek kicks off on November 30th in Sioux City, Iowa and wraps on December 16th in Agoura Hills, California. Along the way, Perry and the band will make stops in West Dundee, Illinois; Detroit; New York City; Philly; Cherokee, North Carolina; along with dates in San Francisco, Pasadena, and Los Angeles, California.
According to Rolling Stone, “The setlist will feature a mix of songs from Perry’s solo catalogue, along with rarely-played tracks from Aerosmith’s earliest records, such as Toys In the Attic and Rocks.”
Back in January, Joe Perry released his latest solo set, called Sweetzerland Manifesto. All the songs are Perry originals, with some help from the legendary Terry Reid. The album also features a cover of Barry McGuire's 1965 chart-topper, “Eve Of Destruction.” Among the high profile guests on the album are the Who's Zak Starkey and Johnny Depp on drums, with vocals by Perry, Reid, David Johansen, and Cheap Trick's Robin Zander.
Joe Perry maintains that the strength of any album begins and ends with the quality of the songwriting: “We've made records that have taken two years and cost millions of dollars. We made records in the early days that cost next to nothing. And the correlation between the two is never, 'A great record costs a lot of money, or a s****y record doesn't cost much.' One doesn't have anything to do with the other.” :
