Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band have announced the final four shows of their farewell tour. Just added to the itinerary are October 24th at Boston's TD Garden; October 26th at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena; October 30th at New York's Madison Square Garden; and November 1st at Philly's Wells Fargo Arena. Tickets for the new dates go on sale Saturday, September 14th at 10 a.m. local time.

Despite the shows being announced as the final stops of what is billed as Seger's “farewell tour,” there's been none of the obvious bells and whistles attached to the dates one would expect for a live career-closing event. The shows are listed as the final “North American” dates, leading some fans to think that Seger might be heading outside of North America for his first overseas shows since 1980.

We recently asked the 74-year-old Seger where he gets his musical inspiration from these days. Bob Seger told us he looks no further than the wife and kids: “Honestly, because I’m ridin’ around with my wife, she loves country, so I’m exposed to country. I’m ridin’ along with my daughter — I listen to all her music. And so it was electronic, it was hip hop, it was pop — it was young pop. And I sat back there, ‘Just go ahead, run the radio. Y’know, I need to hear this stuff. Tell me what you like.’ When she turned something off I said: ‘Well, she doesn’t like that one (laughs).'”

Bob Seger explained to us what makes touring such a pleasure for him these days: “I tell you why it's fun; the band is so dedicated. And they really, really, cover me well. And the girls lift me up and the horns lift me up and. . . Y'know, it's a good band. The accumulation is so good — y'know, all 14 people.”
