Chicago will celebrate its past and present on October 26th with two new concert collections. The first being the first vinyl edition of the band's historic August 28th, 1970 performance featured on Live At The Isle Of Wight, and the CD/DVD of Chicago's Greatest Hits Live, spotlighting 13 of Chicago's biggest hits, which were recorded live in 2017 for PBS's Soundstage series.
Greatest Hits Live was recorded at the WTTW-TV studios in the band's hometown of Chicago last November for PBS's Soundstage series. The collection is a companion piece to Chicago II: Live On Soundstage. Released this summer, that set featured a full-album performance of the group's multi-platinum second album, 1970's Chicago II.
Live At The Isle Of Wight was recorded on August 28, 1970 when Chicago performed at the Isle of Wight Festival with Jimi Hendrix, the Who, Joni Mitchell, and the Doors, among many others. The band's performance debuted on CD earlier this year as part of Chicago: VI Decades Live (This Is What We Do). This double-LP set marks the concert recording's vinyl debut.
Co-founding keyboardist Robert Lamm spoke about the wealth of material that Chicago has kept in its vaults and the decision to finally liberate some of the tapes: “I remember going through the vaults every once in a while and I'd see these multi-track masters sitting there from, y'know, wherever. But we never really thought that they sounded all that good, but they've been dusted off and somewhat improved. In some cases, as we were going through the remixes, if you will, we thought that they were too good, y'know, (laughs), they sounded kinda fake, so we went back to the original.” “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” “Mother” “It Better End Soon” “25 Or 6 To 4” “Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon” “I'm A Man”
