Nearly three years after his death, pop legend George Michael will be back on the airwaves with the new single, "This Is How (We Want You to Get High)." Rolling Stone posted, "The track, which was co-written and co-produced by Michael and collaborator James Jackman, will be released as part of the soundtrack to Paul Feig’s upcoming movie Last Christmas."
The tune was written in 2012 and taped during Michael's final sessions at London's AIR Studios in 2015. The song, which is the first new George Michael music in seven years, is featured in the new Emma Thompson movie, Last Christmas, which in addition to the title track, is inspired by George Michael's music. Last Christmas hits theaters on November 15th.
Back in 2007, George Michael appeared on Britain's Parkinson show and explained that his free and rebellious nature was a callback to a previous era: ["I think I'm of my generation, only most of my generation have got no balls anymore (laughter) — basically. Y'know, I think my generation were taught that it was okay — especially as a musician — to speak your mind, and we're living in a time when it's not okay and we're trying in an effort to return to 'family values' to pretend that some of the things that happened between 1960 and 1985 didn't happen."] SOUNDCUE (:23 OC: . . . 1985 didn't happen)
