Only a year after former-Journey frontman Steve Perry returned with his comeback album Traces — a new album is already in the works. Steve Perry took to Twitter and thanked his fans for the reception they gave him for his first new music in 22 years. Perry posted: “1 yr since Traces my 1st record in 25 yrs was released. TY for receiving it w/ such kindness. More to come incl Xmas music this yr. TY for ur support & acceptance of this new music. TY to my label @fantasyrecords for their constant support. It wouldn’t be possible w/o all of you!”

No further details on when fans can accept the new Christmas music from Perry. Last December, he posted a new cover of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” — although its unclear whether the upcoming holiday set stems from the same set of sessions.

Much of the Traces touches on Steve Perry's year-and-a-half whirlwind romance with late-psychologist Kellie Nash as she was battling stage four breast cancer, which led to her death in 2012 at age 40: “I found Kellie and lost Kellie. (My) passion for music returned. It was amazing. Y'know, everybody thinks they have a pretty good heart, but when your heart really gets broken. . . I mean a heart really isn't broken until it's completely broken. And in my case, that was the completion of a broken heart — and I'm telling you, that's the good news — that's not the bad news. Because from that comes a whole 'nother perspective on life and a whole 'nother perspective on music.”

Steve Perry's Traces marked his first Top 10 solo debut. The album entered the Billboard 200 Albums Chart at Number Six; the Billboard Album Chart at Number Four; and the magazine's Current Rock Album Chart at Number Two.
