Stone Temple Pilots’ new album is finished. According to singer Jeff Gutt, he and his bandmates were only supposed to record an EP, but that quickly changed. He said, “It ended up becoming a whole record, because we just had so much going on. We had so much inspiration happening at the time. So, it ended up becoming a whole record, which changed the whole plan of everything we were doing.”

Part of what they’re doing will include a tour. And drummer, Eric Kretz says they’ll go on the road with what he calls “A whole new way of touring.” He wouldn’t elaborate, but only teased by saying, “Well, you're just gonna have to wait and find out, aren't you? It's not Christmas time yet. You've gotta wait till we wrap those presents.”

The album isn’t expected until sometime next year, but in the meantime, the band will reissue, Purple, later this month in commemoration of the album’s 25th anniversary.
